Whether you snow shoe the 2000 vertical feet or ski in, The Yurt on Arrowhead Mountain may be the most precious hidden gem in the entire Vail Valley.

Situated on an out of bounds trail off the top of the Arrow Bahn Express, The Yurt is the only true private dining on any of the Vail Valleys ski mountains.

In order to dine at this stylish Mongolian traveling tent or Yurt, one must be a member at The Alpine Club in Arrowhead. But this is far from slumming it! The Yurt is outfitted with plush pillows and Ralph Lauren decor. Expansive wrap around decks offer grand vistas and sweeping views overlooking Muddy Springs and the Lake Creek ridge line. Enjoy the blackened salmon BLT with a glass of Cakebread wine or go more casual with the local brew, Crazy Mountain Ale, coupled with a hot pretzel and honey mustard.

And if you are not lucky enough to be a member of The Alpine Club, befriend one! You won’t regret it!

I am an early bird person by nature but not one to get out of the house early. Big difference! And to  get me at the Vail Mountain Club, one of the Vail Resorts Signature Clubs, at 7 am takes a lot! And First Tracks is just that…a lot of fun, a lot of camaraderie and a lot of great food!

And all the early morning frenzy to leave Cordillera Valley Club in Edwards by 6:30am is worth it! Enjoying the sunrise from the gondola is a spectacular event as it breaks over the Gore Range.

And what a thrill to cruise down a corduroy groomed run awaiting your first tracks! But the real joy is the sumptuous and extravagant brunch buffet awaiting you and your friends at The Tenth restaurant at the top of Gondola One! YUMMY!

115 Alhambra

Being a Midwest girl, the grandeur and the beauty of the Vail Valley never ceases to amaze me. But after living here for over forty years, I believe I have found the absolute most spectacular, sweeping views in the entire valley! And it is captured from a home that is currently available for purchase…115 Alhambra Place in The Divide at Cordillera, just minutes from Beaver Creek and Vail.
115_Alhambra_053 View from 115 Alhambra living room

The original developer of Cordillera brilliantly secured the most spectacular site of the hundreds of acres within development and built this masterpiece on 10 acres overlooking the world. Commanding 360 degree views, this 6700 sqft  stunner is only minutes from downtown Edwards. Through French doors every room opens to the expansive wrap around deck on the upper level or to the stone terrace on the lower.  59 Jacksons Path
When analyzing the attributes of 59 Jackson’s Path, an estate in the Vail Valley, in my opinion, this home stands completely alone.
First of all, the homesite is breathtaking. The 5 acres encompasses diverse terrain including gently rolling meadows covered with wildflowers and unique lava rock outcroppings. The northern section is dominated by towering pines reminiscent of a National Park. And the views are massive, sweeping south to the Sawatch Mountain Range and west capturing breathtaking sunsets over The Flat Tops and Castle Peak.
59 Jacksons Path
The home was designed by an internationally-renown architectural team from LA, Ro-To, who also designed the first World Trade Center. The interior finishes are unmatched with massive, hand- selected log columns, a floating staircase, honed granite, custom walnut cabinetry, Viking and Sub Zero appliances, electronic shades, fiber optic lighting and a powder room and master bath painted by Briton.
59 Jacksons Path
The exterior is unique as well as stunning with wood siding made from a dismantled barn, built in 1800, that was found in Glenwood Springs. The sod roof with sprinkler and drains is eco-friendly and a show stopper! There are also 5 exterior stone terraces with snow melt, landscape lighting, outdoor speakers that look like small boulders and a free form stone hot tub that is without peer!
59 Jacksons Path
And the floor plan is unique, yet practical. The generous entry invites you in to explore the home further. Soaring thirty foot plus ceiling with vertical, as well as horizontal, banks of windows wrap around the great and hearth rooms which is overlooked by the raised kitchen. The private dining room looks south across a patio to the mountain peaks beyond. Two spacious guest suites above share huge covered viewing deck while two additional west facing suites enjoy sunset terraces. The grand master is a home of its own with stone fireplace, wet bar, two decks, electronic shades, built in desk and closet of monumental proportions. And the spa bath is a masterpiece with iconic views from the expansive bath, floor-to-ceiling glass shower, and even the potty room! The cozy family room offers stone fire place, wet bar with refrigerator, sound system and access to the one of a kind hot tub.
59 Jacksons Path
And this is why 59 Jacksons Path is the ultimate Vail Valley home.

Although all of us in the Vail Valley are partial to ski in/ski out properties, we also are partial to the extraordinary beauty of the Eagle River. But undeveloped land on the river is becoming more and more rare. I just did a search in the Vail Board of Realtors MLS and found only five parcels of undeveloped land currently available for sale on the Eagle River in Eagle County. Presently there are two small lots in Gypsum priced between $96,000 and $399,500. In complete contrast to those homesites is an opportunity in Edwards known as Jesse’s Parcel. This 4+ acres is a rare “infill” parcel which is listed at $3,300,000 and is within walking distance to The Riverwalk at Edwards with its extensive shopping and dining options.

Six miles west of Wolcott, a lovely 2 acre site rests along the north side of the Eagle and boasts lovely views to the red cliffs beyond. This beautiful homesite is offered for $500,000. Further west lying between Eagle and Gypsum within a small gated neighborhood is a 35.5 acre stunner. The small, gated rural community was the original headquarters for the turn of the century Eagle Ranch and this stretch of the Eagle River has been private since that time. The Eagle River runs through this gorgeous land and offers unequalled fishing, extraordinary privacy and a phenomenal value at $875,000! If you want the soothing sounds of the Eagle River out your door you should act now on these breathtaking opportunities now.

Enjoy afternoon sun drenching vistas of Beaver Creek Mountain, Arrowhead Mountain and the spectacular Lake Creek Valley and the Sawatch Mountain Range. Then sip your beverage from the expansive stone terrace as you watch the sunset slip away over Bellyache Ridge.

The dramatic great room showcases a striking stone fireplace and wood ceiling with copper accents and the glamorous master suite boast a fireplace, breakfast bar, and private stone patio with recessed hot tub. Even the recreation room and 5 additional bedroom suites are privy to the extraordinary panorama. Call Suzi Apple for a tour of this stunning residence today!

Historically real estate sales in this community have taken place predominantly in the summer.
