Local bus service will boost on East Vail, Sandstone and Golf Course lines this Summer in a test that parallels with parking in town.

During daytime routes, the East Vail line will run twice / hour which doubles it’s original schedule that was once just once / hour.  The Sandstone and Golf Course lines will run once / hour, increasing from once every two hours which it was running at.

vail bus.jpg

Vail Town Council wants to make clear that the boost in service is a test for this summer, and not necessarily a change that will be in effect permanently.  The Council is expected to review the increased bus service numbers come August and the final parking numbers near September. The goal is to make sure guests have a place to park; it’s reported that this isn’t meant for the town of Bail to cash in on money gains, it is meant for the businesses to enhance their customers, and to get their customers to create sales tax for the town of Vail.

Image result for national distracted driving awareness month

The Colorado Department of Transportation has partnered with the Colorado State Patrol to recognize April as National Distracted Driving Awareness month.

A recent study of Colorado residents showed the ongoing thread of distracted drivers on the road.  A great percentage of our population here in CO are hardworking, outdoor loving Americans… however rushing to get the mountain, the trail or the office may result in never actually reaching your destination.  22% of participants in the recent study admitted to viewing text messages while driving while 33% admitted to talking on a hand held device. Now a days you can pop into almost any gas station or convenient store and purchase ear buds that connect to your phone making it hands free while in transportation; most phones now come with these attachments to encourage safe driving.  We’re busy people, we’re also smart – so let’s act smart!

Encourage your loved ones to be more mindful on the road… Stay tuned to CDOT’s facebook page for updates all throughout the month of April. Let’s spread awareness and keep the roads safe!

With snow piling up on our roadways; and more snow on it’s way… Vail re-enforces snowplow regulations.

Living in a quaint mountain town you may see many residents with plow trucks in their drive ways, if you’re lucky you might just have a nearby friend to help plow your driveway.

Here are some tips and rules that will help you organize your heaps of snow :)

By town ordinance in Vail, property owners and residences are responsible for maintaining their drive ways and side walks following a snow storm.  For pedestrian safety the town of Vail does not permit on the shoulder or on street parking. The town of Vail has a no tolerance attitude and automobiles parked illegally will be ticketed or even towed.
Please be cautious when driving on streets that have snow pilled high on the street corners; it may be difficult to see on coming traffic. Be careful!

Other ideas include, being mindful of snow loads on roofs, keeping fire hydrants clear of snow and making sure kids’ snow caves are built a safe distance from the road.

Be careful out there!  And for more information on Town of Vail happenings stop in and visit me at our Vail Village location! Located near the international bridge on Gore Creek Drive!
