Fly fishing in the Vail Valley?is fantastic!? There are many excellent rivers to fish; Gore Creek, the Eagle River, and the Colorado River all produce good fish, and we have many great guides and fly shops that can help you find them.? The rivers hold rainbows, cut-throats, and browns? ( to name a few) and each is a joy to catch or?to just?look at.?
Sylvan Lake State Park?has great fishing, ?for the kids as well.? Located south of Eagle with easy access, Sylvan Lake is a fun day trip or awesome spot for overnight camping.
There are?also?several ponds?and private lakes here in Eagle County that?contain massive trout; if you’re lucky enough to fish them, bring your camera as you’ll want to remember some of these monster fish!
Fly Fishing in the Vail Valley
The high altitude lakes and streams here in Eagle County also hold many great fish, especially cut-throats, a beautiful native fish that Coloradoans love to catch.? Often the fish at the higher altitudes do not get fished as often, and are easier to catch.? Dry flies, wet flies, nymphs and streamers can all be successful depending on the time of year, or even the time of day.? If you’re feeling fit, its worth a short (or sometimes longer) hike into any of the East Vail hikes that lead to a lake.? (Booth Lake, Pitkin Lake etc.)? The fish will be cruising the shore just waiting to bite the end of your line!

Construction has begun on Vail’s brand new High Noon Lift, also known as Chair 5 in Vail’s Back Bowls.?? The new four seater high speed?chair lift is part of the $75 million to $85 million improvement package?at several of Vail Resorts properties this summer, including a new Mid-Vail restaurant, new maintenance facility on the mountain, expanded snowmaking on the Simba Trail, expansion of the?tubing hill at Vail Mountain’s Adventure Ridge and improved grooming and snowmaking equipment at all five of the ski company’s resorts – Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly.? The new High Noon Lift will improve skier circulation on the mountain and will carry 2,400 people per hour and reduce the ride to 6 minutes.?? Vail mountain removed more than 100 trees to make room for the new chairlift, including the famous Panty Tree, in which many pairs of women’s panties and Mardi Gras beads where thrown.? There is no doubt that the Panty Tree will regenerate itself as soon as ski season opens.
