We are all very excited for the big game this weekend and everyone has been asking where to watch the Broncos take on the Seahawks so we thought we would help those visiting with some great Vail sports bars that locals love!

THE RED LION, Vail Village

Known as Vail’s best apres-ski bar, this restaurant is also home to a great sports bar atmosphere. Good food, good people, great Bronco fans!

TAVERN ON THE GORE, Vail Village

Overlooking Gore Creek and in the heart of Vail Village, this restaurant has TVs at nearly every table, a great drink menu, and wonderful finger foods!

BOL Vail, Solaris Vail

Set in the stunning Solaris building, this restaurant is also home to Vail’s high-end bowling lanes as well as delicious food. The bar is long with multiple TVs to watch the game!

Vail villageVail surrounds us with beauty which appeals to all the senses. Walking in front of Village Center Buildings, the ice sculptures on Gore Creek caught my eye. Lively music was playing from one of the 5 or 6 restaurants facing the creek. Sensory overload was occurring with the aromas of lunch cooking at Vail restaurants, Up the Creek, Sweet Basil, and Tavern on the Gore. The creek was moving and making its own music. How lucky I am to live and work in Vail! Visitors and bridal photographers are not the only ones trying to capture the Gore Creek beauty.

Northside

This is a local’s favorite!  Northside Coffee & Kitchen is located north of I 70 at the Avon exit on Nottingham Road across the interstate from Beaver Creek.  This is a great place serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The pastries are baked fresh every morning and they are awesome.  I think the sour cream donuts are my favorite!  Besides pastries you can order a full breakfast from Eggs Benedict, breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros with red chili to pancakes.

For Lunch, the Rueben sandwich is my favorite, served on freshly baked marble rye bread and I think it is the best in the Vail Valley. The burgers and fries are great and a good value.  The Dinner menu has something for everyone. For an appetizer, the prime rib and filet eggrolls are to die for!  Served with two dipping sauces, a chipotle and a sweet hot.  The specialty is prime rib which is excellent, served over mashed potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables. The fish and chips are excellent and is the seafood pot pie.  This restaurant does get crowded but it is worth the wait. Click here for the menus.

Beaver Creek’s Food and Wine Festival returns this weekend January 23 – 26th. Set at the base of a World Class mountain, Beaver Creek Food and Wine Festival features top visiting and local chefs, interactive cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits seminars and gourmet wine pairing dinners. The kick off event is Thursday, January 23rd with a Meet the Chefs Reception  from 6 -9 pm.  This years visiting chefs include Gavin Kaysen, Tim Love, Alex Seidel, Naomi Pomeroy and Fabio Viviani, along with notable mixologist, Alex Ott.

BC Wine 2014

Beaver Creek chefs and restaurants will host all the events with the visiting chefs. Friday events include a Snowshoe and Gourmet Lunch with guest chef Fabio Viviani and Grouse Mountain Executive chef David Gutowski  from 9:30 to 2 pm. You will be taken on a guided snowshoe tour to McCoy Park and served a delectable multi-course lunch with wine pairings.  Lunch and Learn is a Beer Pairing Edition from 11 -2 pm which will be hosted at Mirabelle with Chef Naomi Pomeroy and Chef Daniel Joly, who is a Stella Artois brand ambassador. The fun will continue with a Rocky Mountain luau, Apres-Tiki party hosted by Texas grill master Tim Love and Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Executive Chef Christian Apetz at the base of the mountain from 3 – 6 pm.  They will be roasting a whole pig and mixologist Alex Ott will be serving up some tasty tropical cocktails.  Friday evening you have a choice of dinners at either Allie’s Cabin with executive Chef Kirk Weems and Chef Gavin Kaysen which is only accessible by an open air sleigh ride under the stars or Splendido at the Chateau with executive chef-owner David Walford and guest chef Alex Seidel, which has been named on of the “Top Ten Restaurants in Colorado.”

Saturdays events start with Eat, Ski, Eat from 9:30 -2 pm. Explore the mountain with Beaver Creek guides then indulge yourself in a gourmet lunch at Zach’s Cabin on Beaver Creek Mountain.  Apres Ski: Burgers, Beer and Bourbon is from 3-6 pm.  Stroll through Beaver Creek and indulge in a juicy burger and frosty beer.  The Grand Tasting is the ultimate tasting experience with wine, spirits and music from 7 – 10pm at Ford Hall.

Sunday is the Celebrity Chef Ski Race and Brunch from 10 – 11:30 (ski race) and 11 – 1 pm (brunch). The celebrity chefs will be racing to raise money for their charity.
