Where in the Vail Valley do you have direct ski access to three different ski mountains, one of  the most celebrated Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses, Country Club of the Rockies, and a ski club, The Alpine Club, that is the lifeblood of the community? Arrowhead at Vail is an extraordinary mix that offers all of this yet the properties sell at about 20% less per square foot than its neighbors in Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch!

Opportunity abounds whether you are looking for a ski in/ski out townhome or a family estate with breathtaking golf course and mountain views. Arrowhead at Vail is like no other.  Enjoy après entertainment as you devour one of the famous “Blinky Burgers” at the base of the ski mountain, or if you prefer a more sophisticated scene, The Vista Restaurant offers a delectable fare where Mickey Poage mesmerizes all with his unquenchable piano talent.

One of my favorite properties for sale in Arrowhead is 47 Windermere Circle, a beautiful 6 bedroom, 7,080 sqft estate set on one of Arrowhead’s finest homesites. 47 windemere, arrowhead 47-windermere-living 47-windermere-kitchen

Today the “Road to Sochi” began right here in Vail Village outside of my Gateway Land & Development office! As the tents started to go up, the flow of foot traffic began to slow down with curiosity. I, myself, found it irresistible to go and explore.

What I discovered were tents that individually captured different Olympic Sports. For example, there is a hockey net set up with a plastic construct that had wheels attached to lock your feet into. That way children (and adults) can get a feel for playing hockey. There are simulator’s for speed skiing and finally my favorite to watch and what looked to be the most fun the Luge. The Luge was especially fun because with each participator the crowd was left to wonder how many would come to a stop. There was but one young man that seems responsible for the safety landing of the Luge participants.

Right in the center of these events are many of Vail’s finest properties. Two that are available right now are Robert Schilling’s (contact: 1) Vail Core #4 – this is a studio plus loft (whole ownership) for $610,000 and 2) One Willow Bridge (Fractional) with stunning finishes, new amenities, and 24 hour concierge service for $405,000 for 7 weeks/year.

Moose 5 Moose 7 Moose 4moose 2

Vail, Co.    Each morning as I prepare for work, I gaze out into my beautiful back yard and the gurgling stream in the Sandstone area in Vail, Colorado.  This morning I got quite a surprise when I saw a yearling Moose standing on my patio gazing into my living room.  I wasn’t quick enough on the draw with my phone to capture his photo within inches of me, but he and his brother meandered in the yard for a while.  Vail has seen a record snowfall in the past week to 10 days with more on the way!  The Moose were enjoying the shallow shoveled maze that had been created for the dog.  Be aware though, Moose are dangerous and should never be approached.  These photos were taken from behind glass.  I didn’t even open the door.  Moose are VERY unpredictable, but this was a wonderful site nonetheless!

Vail is experiencing a heavy boost in its economy after receiving an unbelievable 84 inches of snow just last January. Last week’s massive storm brought over 30 inches of snow to Vail Mountain over a two-day period leading to waist-deep conditions.

Vail Big Snow 11-23-10

The unprecedented storm has boosted what is traditionally the Valley’s “soft” period for tourism following the busy Martin Luther King Jr holiday. This is great news for the Vail Valley as it is the first time Vail Mountain’s snowfall has reached these levels since the drought that has plagued Colorado’s high country since 2011. The snowfall on Vail Mountain is now running ahead of its 30-year average, making both the powder hounds and business owners very pleased.

Not only has the epic snowfall boosted a very strong holiday season, but the massive storm last week and continued winter warnings indicate the possibility for a very strong spring season as well. Another 10 to 20 inches of snow is projected to fall by the end of this week, indicating that this season could have some of the strongest snow conditions in recent memory.

With the over 99 inches recorded snowfall in Vail Valley this ski season, it is difficult to tear yourself away from the ski slopes or looking at ski in/out real estate. But last week, I met a good friend at her Cordillera residence and we enjoyed an invigorating snow shoe around a track on the Hale Irwin designed Ranch at Cordillera Golf Club. This snow shoe reminded me why Cordillera is such a wonderful community to live in and enjoy daily!  The Cordillera market has gotten hot the last few weeks, and why wouldn’t it? With stunning Gore Range and Sawatch Range views, amenities galore, handsome, western-style homes ranging from log cabins to Legacy estates, this incredible community is still a true value, especially in relation to the rest of the Vail Valley!
