The event features men’s and women’s individual races as well and team events on the Birds of Prey and the new “Raptor” racecourses. Real Estate Market Report Jan '14

Vail real estate has always been a strong piece of the Vail economy, and this year it is showing to be just that. According to the most recent figures from Land Title Guarantee Co., the 107 completed transactions in January had a total value of $103.1 million, a 69% increase from January of 2013. Ten sales were over $2 million, a great jump in the higher-end properties which have been slower in the past years.

Vail Epic Pass

Vail Resorts has announced that the Epic Pass is now on sale for the 2014 – 2015 Winter Season.  The pass provides unlimited, unrestricted skiing and riding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin in Colorado, The Canyons in Park City, Utah, Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood at Lake Tahoe, Afton Alps in Minnesota, and Mt. Brighton in Michigan.  New this year, the Epic Pass will offer 5 free consecutive ski days in Niseko United in Japan.

The price of the Epic Pass is $729 for adults and $379 for children.  If you buy your pass before April 13, for only $49 down, it will lock in a guaranteed lowest price.  The remaining balance will be billed in mid-September.  One incentive for buying early, purchasers will receive six “Buddy Tickets” which offer discounted lift ticket prices and access to chairlift rides during the summer months.

Pink Vail 2014

Pink Vail is the world’s biggest ski day to conquer cancer.  On April 5th, participants come together for a festive day on the mountain to commemorate our fight against cancer.  All proceeds from Pink Vail benefit patient care and resources at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center.  Over $350,000 in donations were raised last year.  You may participate as an individual, start your own team or join a team. Taste of Vail 2014

Taste of Vail – April 2 – 5  A platform for promoting Vail’s lifestyle through this iconic food and wine event.

The first event starts on April 2nd, Experience the Food and Wine Debute of the Roses.  Taste of Vail will be one of the first venues of 2014 for you to experience the release of the Rose’ from 2013.

On April 3rd, the Colorado Lamb Cook Off Apres Ski Tasting, Life Beyond Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot.  Sample an array of Lamb dishes, courtesy of the Vail Valley’s finest chefs.

Friday, April 4th is the Mountain Top Picnic.  At 10,350 feet above sea level, enjoy a gourmet feast prepared by the highly acclaimed Vail Valley chefs, while taking in the breathtaking views on top of Vail Mountain.

Spring Back to Vail 2014

Spring Back to Vail is the biggest end of the season bash in the Rocky Mountains.  The season will end with serious fun including free, live concerts, and the famous World Pond Skimming Championships.  Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, STS9, and Steel Pulse will headline the Spring Back to Vail concert series, wrapping up the 2013 – 2014 ski and snowboard season.  All concerts are free and open to the public.

No need to make a trip to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras when you can celebrate on top of Vail Mountain.  Vail has offered a variety of Carnival Style events but the most well know one is, “The World’s Highest Low Country Crawfish Boil”.  Eagle’s Nest, on top of Vail Mountain, hosts the annual event with all of the Mardi Gras goodness, from bluegrass music to Cajun Cooking.  The event kicks off on Sunday, March 2 with 600 pounds of crawfish along with 200 pounds of corn, potatoes and Andouille sausage.  Admission is free and combo plates start at $14.95.  The combo plates include one pound of crawfish, with sides of Andouille sausage, new potatoes, corn and garlic bread.  Additional sides of gumbo, crawfish etouffe and king cake may be purchased along with draft beer and hurricane cocktails.  Come get into the Mardi Gras spirit with live music from Thunder and Rain, a Colorado based band.  The celebration starts at noon until 2:30.
