Yes, we have all seen the shows on TV with a designer comes in and remodels a home to get it ready to sell. But, did you know that this was actually an option right here in our valley?

I have partnered with Alejandra Billoni, a local architect and designer, to give our clients more options with their home at an affordable price. Alejandra has the luxury to work independently with private clients. This eliminates much of the overhead expenses of some of these large companies, which allows her to pass those savings to the client.

I know, this all sounds well and dandy, but what has she done lately. I am glad you asked, she is currently working on a remodel of the spa area at a condo complex in Beaver Creek. But don’t worry, she does residential properties too.

The picture is of The Chateau and not Alejandra’s work.

Here’s the best part, whether you are buying or selling, we can customize a package for you to save you money.

So, for more information on remodels or designs, call Alejandra at 970-376-6615 and Greg at 970-331-1333 for information on buying or selling.

A dog that accidentally entered a half marathon after being let out to pee by its owner ended up finishing seventh in the race.

The impressive performance was by a two-year-old bloodhound called Ludivine from the town of Elkmount, Alabama.

Her owner April Hamlin, 43, let the dog out to take care of her private doggy business, only for her to wag her tail into the Trackless Trek half marathon in the  town.

Instead of stopping, Ludivine kept plowing her way around the course and ended up finishing in seventh place overall in an impressive time of just under 1 hr 33 minutes.

Organisers marked her achievement by awarding her a medal.

On their Facebook page, they wrote: “This is Ludivine – she ran the entire half marathon and finished 7th overall with a time of 1:32.56.”

Ms Hamlin said she only became aware of Ludivine’s escapade when her friends started sending her photos of her dog at the finish line.

“My first reaction was that I was embarrassed and worried that she had possibly gotten in the way of the other runners,” she told Runner’s World.

“All I did was open the door, and she ran the race on her own accord.

“She’s laid back and friendly, so I can’t believe she ran the whole half marathon because she’s actually really lazy.”

Lifeitsownself in Vail.  Can’t beat it.  8 inches of powder on Tuesday or was it Monday?  Then Spring conditions on Wednesday and Thursday.  Whenever you come, the conditions are usually the best in North America and for the occasional ski break there are plenty of other world class activities to do, day and night.  It’s a beautiful day in Colorado, Bob

With snow blanketing the Vail Valley, it’s a great time to start a winter gardening project such as a Fairy Garden.  A fairy garden is essentially a miniature garden that creates tiny realistic landscapes  to be viewed on all sides and to accommodate as many plants and decorations as possible.  Fairy gardens often take on whimsical appearance with tiny figurines, fairy houses with small fences and garden benches, surrounded by live plants  The figurines often times are fairies but can be gnomes and goblins.

The essential elements of a fairy garden include a container, soil, small plants, figures and other small scale gardening accessories.  Tin buckets, wide terracotta pots, wagons, wicker baskets are great for creating miniature garden designs.  Most fairy gardens work well as centerpieces or on countertops.  Fairy gardens kits are available and make great gifts for family and friends.

Sunshine Sunshine Sunshine.  Today is a great day to ski.  Tons of snow earlier this week.  Sunday was epic once you got parked and got up the first lift.  It is really great to stay in town if you can.  Vail reported 15 inches overnight and Beaver Creek 5 inches (that was up to 5 am and the snow was still falling).  I’ve got a great little Single Family under contract for a front range couple and we are working through the contingencies and I did not get to enjoy the huge fresh powder.  After a snow like that with follow up 3 and 4 inchers on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday the skiing is still primo. Come and see us.  It’s a beautiful day in Colorado,  Bob

Yesterday Vail Resorts announced that it had acquired Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin, adding it to two other Midwest locations, Mt. Brighton, and Afton Alps. New season pass options were added to the acquisition, including sophisticated channels of communication with all skiers who ski at Wilmot from Chicago or Milwaukee.

Wilmot Mountain was founded by a visionary, Walter Stopa, in 1938, later to provide snowmaking with rubber hoses and sprinkler heads. Today, there are 25 trails.

In addition, Wilmot has night-skiing, a racing program, ski and snowboard school, four terrain parks, and a tubing hill with 23 lanes. The legacy created for Stopa has been realized in full.

Ski vacationLarge family ski vacations are the best. However they often mean different thing to different members of the family. Specifically what I’m talking about here is the members who don’t ski and don’t want to! I know it’s hard to imagine but some people have no interest in the big hill. So what to do?   Now, this is the point where  I could go off and list 125 fun things to do in Vail, but I won’t. I have one simple- pure and beautiful answer that works for 95% of people that can walk . “SNOWSHOE ” Thats it, thats all. The odds are overwhelmingly great that wherever you’re staying already has some and if  by some weirdness not, everywhere rents them. Try it you’ll like it. I promise.

Happy trails, DEMETRIUS

This last Wednesday, Vail Resorts revenue gains from the prior year period, in lift-ticket sales, hotel and retail revenue, ski school and dining revenue, nearly 20%. Rob Katz, CEO of Vail Resorts, spoke of lower European resort attendance, given the dollar vs. euro gaps, unfavorable for Europeans.

Other properties, especially Tahoe, in CA, prospered, given the favorable west-coast weather patterns. Perisher, in Australia, a recent VR acquisition, fared well also in 2015, April-October. The World Cup in December was a strong precursor for the opening at Beaver Creek, CO, with strong US results.

Double digit growth surprised many at the newly-acquired Utah property, Park City, accelerated by an abundance of snow for all. Snow arrival is likened to the farmer/rain equation..without it, Vail Resorts and farmers would be out of business.
