While you are visiting the Vail Valley you have to treat yourself to a show at the Vilar Performing Arts Center. Located in the heart of Colorado’s Beaver Creek Resort, this 535 seat theater has a great line up for live music for the rest of the summer. Owned and operated by the Vail Valley Foundation, they offer a large variety of year round performances including jazz, comedy, dance, film, Broadway musicals, theatre, rock concerts, family shows and more. This summer concert series included a package schedule in July with KD Land, Robert Cray, Boz Scaggs and Marc Cohn. In August, highlights include Chris Isask, Keb “Mo” and Michael McDonald and in September David Brighton’s Tribute to David Bowie; Space Oddity – The Ultimate David Bowie Experience which should be very popular due to Bowie’s passing. At the end of September, don’t miss the Underground Sound Series, seven shows held throughout the fall.
The Vilar Performing Arts Center does not disappoint from the horseshoe shaped theater with amazing seats to the variety of performances. For more information for the schedule of shows and to purchase tickets you may visit their website: www.vvf,org/arts/vilar-performing-arts-center
Another Bluebird day in Vail. When I got to the office this morning about 8 am, a fisherman was working Gore Creek for trout. You can usually see them pooling from the International Bridge which is on the north side of the Sitzmark Lodge. We are in a great location on the west side. Stop in any time at our separate entrance. It’s a beautiful day in Colorado, Bob

If you are not in Vail today, maybe you should be. It’s starting out as a blue bird day but will probably cloud up some later with a chance of showers. Temperature should stay below 80 degrees but in the direct sunlight it will feel warmer. Last night it was in the 50s. Gore Creek looks great.
The Merchants were setting up their tents and tables for today’s market, besides the retail shops, extra food, art, clothes, and fresh veggies.
We had a nice meeting on Thursday with our National and International Partner, LEVERAGE.
Look them up on line Leverage.com or just go to our website, gatewaytovail.com. It’s a beautiful day in Colorado, Bob

While there are no fire restrictions in Eagle County yet, other fires in Colorado have many focused on wildfire planning. Wildfires are a reality in Colorado and the Vail Valley has been spared. Firefighters and residents should be prepared against the threat of wildfires at all times. Firefighters train hard and make countless preparations to be ready at all times.
Preparing for the fire threat: Be ready, be fire wise. Take personal responsibility and prepare long before the threat of a wildfire so your home is ready in case of a fire. Create a defense space by clearing brush away from your home. Assemble emergency supplies and belongings in a safe spot. Plan escape routes. Always stay tune to the latest news and information on the fire threat from local media and fire department. Sign up for the Eagle County alert system by going to www.ecalert.org.
A wildfire is an unplanned, unwanted fire burning in a natural area such as a forest, grassland or prairie. Wildfires can destroy natural resources, homes and threaten the safety of the public and firefighters who protect the forest and communities. Wildfires can occur anywhere in the country. They usually start in remote wilderness areas, national parks or even in your back yard. Wildfires can start from natural causes such as lightening but most are caused by humans, either accidentally from cigarettes, campfires or outdoor burning, or intentionally.
Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes so it’s important to plan ahead just in case. For a full list of suggestions, go to www.ready.gov
