Wooohoooo!!!? Yipppeeee!!? It’s golf season here in the Vail Valley.? A bastion of excellent courses, both public and private, the Vail Valley provides abundant choices for golfers of all abilities.? And in?typical resort fashion, these golf courses provide a beautiful backdrop to some amazing real estate opportunities here in the Vail Valley.
Here are a few of my favorite courses:
Red Sky Ranch:? Wolcott, CO?
2 championship courses provide approx 14,693 yards of amazing golf!!? (remember, we’re at altitude so you get about 15% more distance on your shots)? The Tom Fazio design is generous tee box to green, but be accurate with your approach or 3 putts become likely.? The Greg Norman course is perhaps more challenging off the tee and on approach, but putting should be a bit easier on the more level greens.? Both offer?excellent golf in a pristine alpine ranch setting!!
Country Club of the Rockies:? Arrowhead Resort in?Edwards, CO
One?of the few truly private courses in the Vail Valley, Country Club of the Rockies (CCR) is a beautiful Jack Nicklaus design that awards good shots, and punishes bad ones.? A good walking track, this links style course meanders across the valley floor and the Eagle River, providing stunning views of the surrounding area.
Sonnenalp Golf Club: at?Singletree in Edwards,CO
Located in the upscale nieghborhood of Singletree in Edwards, CO, the Sonnenalp Golf Club is a great course with both private and public play.? Winding its way up, down, and across this hillside community, golfers are treated to beautiful views and a well designed course by Bobb Cupp and Jay Morrish.? Easily walkable, this course is bathed in the Colorado sun all day long.? Be sure to stop by the popular clubhouse for a meal or drink on its beautifully scenic patio!
Eagle Ranch Golf Course: Eagle, CO
A great public option with discounts for local residents, this Arnold Palmer design will challenge and reward all golfers.? Set in the local community of Eagle Ranch, this rolling course combines the natural beauty of the area with a need for precise shots.? Risk/reward should be considered?on many tee boxes and if you fared well, in many fairways.? If the prevailing winds pick up, watch out, this course can eat you up!
