Being a Colorado mover and shaker myself I am itching to see snow fall and get on top of the mountain; thankfully The Bookworm over in Edwards Riverwalk keeps me creative and intrigued with their long list of fun free to-do’s…

The Bookworm not only is conveniently located near across the street to our Gateway Real Estate office in Edwards but they share many options for tasty healthy eats as well as ‘keep you going’ drinks like their americano which is my personal favorite.

This week the Bookworm shares with us the stories of Doug Coombs as he will be live and in the flesh at The Bookworm discussing his life as a legendary extreme skier traveler. If you haven’t picked up the thrilling read, Tracking the Wild Coomba: The Life of Legendary Skier Doug Coombs I suggest you do as it gets readers in the mood for ski season and quiets some of our fears as extreme mountain seekers.

So while we’re still praying for snow take a stroll over to Edwards… Take a browse at the copious listings we have in beautiful Colorado and elsewhere and we invite you to come into our office; sit down with a broker and get those questions answered.  The Bookworm hosts Doug Coombs this Thursday November 10th from 4-6PM

Homes are selling! And selling in locations that have been sluggish to sell…

Image result for sold

Buckle up if you’ve been on the ride that is the real estate market here in Vail Valley…

Currently the market is hot here! Fairly, and honest priced homes are moving faster then ever right now. The crucial key to these homes moving is pricing!

Down valley have generated more sales then surrounding area such as Beaver Creek, Edwards, Avon etc (up Valley). The Eagle market, along with the rest of the Down Valley is as busy as it’s been in years. The idea is that when the home is priced right, it will sell. Reason for such activity is that homes priced in the $500,000.00 are being sold quick simply  there is not enough inventory in that price range.

Long time local realtors here in the Valley are expressing that while homes are selling there still seems like the need for more housing opportunites. Offering a diversity for potential home owners makes for more colorful communities here.

If you’re like me, it’s nice to participate in seasonal/holiday decorations in your home but with simple clean creative touches! With all the beautiful Vail Valley foliage I got to thinking, “How can I bring these beautiful Vail colors into my home?”

When out and about in the Vail Village or just strolling through your neighborhood; reach out and grab colorful leaves that have fallen, collect as many as you can! Grab a friend or your pup and get outside while the colors are still vibrant! You can do a ton with Fall leaves; wrap them around decorative glasses with a piece of yarn or twine, press them against glass and there you have a wall hanging! You can even intertwine your leaves and put your own seasonal spin on a wreath.

Leaves aren’t the only thing falling from Vail’s cloudless sky…Grab acorns around your community! Toss them in a mason jar or vase, even a long bowl used as a centerpiece! Layer acorns around a candle and wahlah! There you have a nice Fall accent to make your home even cozier!

Stick letters are super fun and versatile to create, and virtually work anywhere in your home! It’s neat to extenuate your individualism  in your home space! While on your walkabout grab as many sticks and twigs of all thickness. The more variety of thickness the more depth you give your letter! A frame of any size is needed as well as a printed letter of your choice. Portion your printed out letter into your frame and here you’ve set up your outline.  Trim twigs and sticks to your letter, glue pieces into place and there you have your nature inspired stick letter!

Ever look at the clock at the office and feel like it’s later then it really is? How about having a ‘case of the Mondays’ on Wednesday? Gaze out your office window wishing you had the energy to explore the beautiful Vail Valley only you’re too burnt out from computer work?  You’re not the only over-achiever-multitasker in the office and there are greater ways to help revive your energy besides making another pot of coffee.  I’d like to share with you what helps get me through the work week!  I’ve  committed to these poses (and variations of these poses) on a daily basis as a little rejuvenation in my body does in fact clear and re-focus my mind!

Scale Pose-

Scoot to sit at the edge of your chair, press your hands down on either side of your hips and raise your legs and butt up off the seat. Engage your deep abdominal muscles and keep the tops of your shoulders down; hold for 3 to 5 breaths. Lower and repeat a couple more times.

High Altar Pose-

Inhale and lift your arms; clasp your hands and invert your palms. Lean to your left. Hold for 5 to 8 breaths, then switch sides. Inhale your shoulders up to your ears then exhale replant them back on your spine. This creates a nice distance between your ears and shoulders therefore giving your neck a sweet stretch!

Twist-

Turn to your left. Use your left hand on the back of the chair to deepen the twist. Hold for 5 to 8 breaths, then twist to the other side. Enhance this pose by lifting your chin for an extra neck stretch.  As we twist our bodies envision a rag being twisted out draining access water; here our bodies twist internally also riding our internal organs of toxins!

Cow Face Arms-

Bring your left arm behind your back and right arm behind your head. Clasp fingers if you can, if you can’t that’s OK just reach fingertips toward one another.  Hold for 5 to 8 breaths; switch sides. This creates opening in our arm pits and triceps!

 Ankle to Knee-

Place your left foot on your right knee, letting left knee drop open. Keep your back straight; lean forward to stretch deeper. After 5 to 8 breaths, switch sides. Feel free to roll out your raised ankle here creating more space for your feet! All done at your office chair!

Give it a try! For what do you have to lose?  These poses can be done all together or broken down into deeper, more isolated movements throughout your work day.  I assure you decision-making skills, customer service, attitude and general outlook will be positively affected after participating in these above poses.  Not to mention your body feeling more comfortable, after creating more space in your joints in muscle therefore improving overall functionality!

Don’t forget to breathe fully!

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

One of Sondheim’s most popular works, “Into the Woods” is a musically sophisticated show with the opportunity to feature actor’s adept at dark comedy. The audience will especially enjoy highlighting the fantastical elements of this magical word.

Redstone2

Redstone Castle

Redstone Castle is located in Redstone Colorado, just outside of Carbondale. Built in 1897 for John C. Osgood, this residency has seen it’s share of Colorado history. Teddy Roosevelt and John D. Rockefeller have enjoyed spending time at this beautiful, historical abode. The movie, ‘The Prestige‘ starring Michael Caine, Christian Bale and Scarlett Johansson was filmed at this location, as well!

The Castle remains essentially true to the original form from when it was assembled in 1897, and for that reason it is protected under the Colorado Historical Easement. This essentially means that only the furniture may be replaced. There are 42 rooms spread out over 24,000 square feet, along with 14 fireplaces for warmth. Beautifully designed Tiffany light fixtures adorn the custom motif of every uniquely created room, each with it’s own testament to a different country. A must see is the Gentlemen’s Game Room, so many rich, opulent stories to be told there!

This beautiful property is set for Auction on October 7, 2016, you must provide a minimum bid of $2,000,000.00 to throw in your hat. Good Luck!!
