Living in Vail there is so much to do outside of the office during any season… if you don’t ski, (like me!) then maybe winter hiking is more your speed…

With sunshine to guide the trails Vail has copious Winter hikes that are just breathtaking, let me share my favorite!

Hanging lake is a must-do while visiting Vail, Colorado. This moderate to difficult ranked hike is more like a “day trip”! Covering roughly 2.5 miles plan for the route taking close to two hours.  With many accessible picnicking spots  I usually pack snacks and lots of water to refuel along the way. With altitude increase please be aware of altitude sickness symptoms.  Views of cascades and canyons fill your vision from the moment you park at the trail head. The Hanging Lake trail head is located approximately 10 miles east of Glenwood Springs along Interstate-70 in Glenwood Canyon. The hike is very well groomed so to speak, along side steps are railings for support when needed.  At the summit you reach a beautiful frozen lake that is crystal clear, awesome spot for photos! Remember, there is no cell service at the lake or on the trail, so come prepared.

Living in Vail the scenery and surroundings encourage exploration, make time for yourself or get outside with friends and family to full see all that beauty Vail has to offer!
