While not in the real estate office located in the heart of Vail in Vail Village; brokers with Gateway Land & Development enjoy heading out to the trail! There are tons of local options for hiking; here are our favorite!

Grouse Lake Trail (Minturn):  No need to drive up Tigiwon Road for this one – the Grouse Lake trailhead is located just before the town of Minturn.  When I first moved to the valley it was by far my favorite hike and still holds a special place in my heart.  It is 4.6 miles to the lake which, in my opinion, is one of the prettiest lakes in the valley.

Gore Creek/ Lake Trail (East Vail):  The beauty of this trail is that you can go for as short or long as you like (5.5 miles to Gore Lake) and there is pretty scenery the entire way.  You’ll spend most of the hike listening to the sounds of Gore Creek as you walk beside it and there is lots of shade to keep you cooler.

Shrine Ridge (Vail Pass):  This is a great hike mid-summer during wildflower season when the meadows are awash with color.  Temps are cooler up high (starts around 11,000 ft) and in a short 2.1 miles you have 360 degree views including Copper Mountain, Mt of the Holy Cross, the Gore Range and Vail’s back bowls.

NOW is the time to get outside while the sun is shinning and the trails aren’t super packed with tourists!

You want to know where the locals hike?

Here’s a re-cap from our venture out on Beaver Lakes hike yesterday!

Located near Avon, Beaver Lakes is a roughly 4.8 mile moderate hike. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from June until October. So now is a great time for YOU to get out there and check it out for yourself! Also, dogs are welcome but encouraged to stay on leash!

The water is refreshing and if you’re lucky, you may just see some wildlife grazing!

For more information on our favorite local ‘to-do’s’ feel free to reach out to me at Maxine@GatewayLand.com or visit me in the lovely Vail Village.  Our Gateway Land and Development Real Estate office is conveniently located above the International Bridge.
