Hiking in and around the Vail Valley is some of those most recreational fun one can have! With endless scenery of mountain tops and lush greenery you can definitely quiet your mind in this spectacular abyss.

While not in the real estate office located in the heart of Vail in Vail Village; brokers with Gateway Land & Development enjoy heading out to the trail! There are tons of local options for hiking; here are our favorite!

Grouse Lake Trail (Minturn):  No need to drive up Tigiwon Road for this one – the Grouse Lake trailhead is located just before the town of Minturn.  When I first moved to the valley it was by far my favorite hike and still holds a special place in my heart.  It is 4.6 miles to the lake which, in my opinion, is one of the prettiest lakes in the valley.

Gore Creek/ Lake Trail (East Vail):  The beauty of this trail is that you can go for as short or long as you like (5.5 miles to Gore Lake) and there is pretty scenery the entire way.  You’ll spend most of the hike listening to the sounds of Gore Creek as you walk beside it and there is lots of shade to keep you cooler.

Shrine Ridge (Vail Pass):  This is a great hike mid-summer during wildflower season when the meadows are awash with color.  Temps are cooler up high (starts around 11,000 ft) and in a short 2.1 miles you have 360 degree views including Copper Mountain, Mt of the Holy Cross, the Gore Range and Vail’s back bowls.

NOW is the time to get outside while the sun is shinning and the trails aren’t super packed with tourists!

Stay tuned to our blog & news page on www.GatewayLand.com for fun Summer happenings and the latest in our listings!

Homes are selling! And selling in locations that have been sluggish to sell…

Image result for sold

Buckle up if you’ve been on the ride that is the real estate market here in Vail Valley…

Currently the market is hot here! Fairly, and honest priced homes are moving faster then ever right now. The crucial key to these homes moving is pricing!

Down valley have generated more sales then surrounding area such as Beaver Creek, Edwards, Avon etc (up Valley). The Eagle market, along with the rest of the Down Valley is as busy as it’s been in years. The idea is that when the home is priced right, it will sell. Reason for such activity is that homes priced in the $500,000.00 are being sold quick simply  there is not enough inventory in that price range.

Long time local realtors here in the Valley are expressing that while homes are selling there still seems like the need for more housing opportunites. Offering a diversity for potential home owners makes for more colorful communities here.

You know it’s Fall when you hear the crunching of fallen leaves below your feet, smells of spicy warm cider and pumpkins loitering in packs alongside neighborhood porches.

Pumpkins are so much more than colorful seasonal decorations or a blank canvas for carving… they offer big benefits for your health, not to mention how tasty the are! Grated like a carrot, it can be added to cake and muffin batters. Puréed, it’s famous in pie. Sliced or diced, pumpkin is delicious roasted and eaten on its own, baked into casseroles, or stewed for soups. Pumpkin is also a low-calorie superfood. It’s high in potassium, fiber, and beta-carotene. But as good for you as pumpkin is, its mild, lightly sweet flavor is what leaves you delighted and satisfied. As The day to day preparations of meals at home can plateau; we can look to seasonal inspiration to keep meals creative and focus on healthy living.

Having the sweet tooth that I do, my favorite pumpkin dish is pumpkin bread pudding! Check out this easy, delicious recipe HERE!

Before you select another pumpkin for your front porch display, consider cooking it instead: roast, bake, and stew up everything from savory salads and creamy soups to earthy desserts and more!
