The Walking Mountains Science Center in Vail offers an endless variety of outdoor experiences! Time is running out for their 2016 guided day hikes. Have your gear packed for possible inclement weather, along with your lunch, snacks and plenty of fluids! Adult’s $80 / $75 for VRD taxpayers.

Vail Nature Hiking

Take the Gondola up to the top of Vail Mountain and enjoy a guided Nature Hike any day of the week from 11-12 or 2-3!

On Thursdays and Saturdays from 7p-8p an awesome evening hike is another option available for you to get out and come alive with nature! There is no fee for any of these beautiful hikes.

Be sure to wear/pack the proper attire, including comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring water! Don’t forget your Ski Pass to ride the Gondola at no charge or purchase a Gondola round-trip ticket for $34

Hut to Hut hiking offers a very unique and exciting wilderness adventure in EagleSummit and Pitkin Counties, without having to rely entirely on your own means! Most of the Huts are within a 7 mile radius from the trail head with a 700-2,800 vertical foot climb. Be sure to visit the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association Colorado to make your personal or group reservations and to create your own, customized adventure! (970) 925-5775

You will need to pack in your own sleeping bag, water, food, personal gear and an emergency kit. Be sure to pick up a Summer Huts & Trails Topo map!

Included with the Huts: wood burning stoves for heating and cooking, propane burners, photo-voltaic lighting, cooking and eating utensils, kitchen supplies, mattresses and pillows.

The 10th Mountain Division Hut Association Colorado maintains a total of 34 Huts.  All 34 Huts are available during the winter season for snowshoeing and cross country skiing, etc. In the summertime, access is limited to 21 Huts. Be sure to plan your trip soon to ensure reservations!
