2013 Winter Mountain Games return to Vail, Colorado this weekend

Vail is gearing up for the 2013 Winter Mountain Games which are being held this weeknd, February 8 – 10, 2013.  Professional and amateur athletes will converge on to the mountain and the villages of Vail for a celebration of adventure sports, music, art and the great outdoors.

The 2nd annual Winter Mountain Games is presented by Eddie Bauer and is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. The featured competitions include mixed climbing, Big Air, duel slolom biking, both Nordic and Telemark skiing, ski mountaining and snowshoe racing and a one day vertical challange in Vail’s legendary Back Bowls.  $60,000 in prize money always brings out the best in each sport.

The winter festival comes to life with free concerts, films, photo comp, an interactive expo area, demo events and of course, dogs.  The concerts will be held at Checkpoint Charlie and will start at 7:30. The bands that will be performing this year festival include:  Thursday, February 7, Ana Sia and Kraddy; Friday, February 8 features Flobots and Saturday night; Februay 9, features: John Brown’s Body.
