Fly fishing in the Vail Valley?is fantastic!? There are many excellent rivers to fish; Gore Creek, the Eagle River, and the Colorado River all produce good fish, and we have many great guides and fly shops that can help you find them.? The rivers hold rainbows, cut-throats, and browns? ( to name a few) and each is a joy to catch or?to just?look at.?
Sylvan Lake State Park ?has great fishing, ?for the kids as well.? Located south of Eagle with easy access, Sylvan Lake is a fun day trip or awesome spot for overnight camping.
There are?also?several ponds?and private lakes here in Eagle County that?contain massive trout; if you’re lucky enough to fish them, bring your camera as you’ll want to remember some of these monster fish!Fly Fishing in the Vail Valley

The high altitude lakes and streams here in Eagle County also hold many great fish, especially cut-throats, a beautiful native fish that Coloradoans love to catch.? Often the fish at the higher altitudes do not get fished as often, and are easier to catch.? Dry flies, wet flies, nymphs and streamers can all be successful depending on the time of year, or even the time of day.? If you’re feeling fit, its worth a short (or sometimes longer) hike into any of the East Vail hikes that lead to a lake.? (Booth Lake, Pitkin Lake etc.)? The fish will be cruising the shore just waiting to bite the end of your line!
