The rainbows and cut-bows offer great fights, and these are healthy fish (long, strong and fat!) Catching them is not as easy as one would guess; they have become more selective and choosing the right pattern is essential. But it is very worth it when you hook into these beautiful fish! Sight fishing is the method I suggest; walk around the pond until you see one of these monsters; throw your pattern of choice just in front of them, (elk hair caddis, hoppers, & damsels have all been successful depending on the time of year) maybe give it a little twitch and hopefully, you’ll have a “Fish On!”Another Norman Pond Rainbow Trout

As a somewhat novice fly fisherman, I truly enjoy the opportunity to catch gorgeuos fish that put up a HUGE fight. Learning how to land these big guys is a great lesson. A more seasoned fisherman, like my friend pictured above, seems to have his way with these guys and yet still enjoys it as much as I do. Young anglers can practice here as well with lure fishing allowed. And catch and release is of course the rule.
