PROPERTY | The Sanctuary in Cordillera Valley Club
When my business partner, George Sanders, and I, with our team from Gateway Land and Development, created the initial development plans for Cordillera Valley Club, we established four enclave locations, allowing for zero lot line neighborhoods to be built. Fall Creek was the first one close to the security gate overlooking a lush creek drainage. The Legends is just below the CVC Clubhouse and offers gorgeous Lake Creek views. Seven Eagles, on the property’s western edge, has lovely views across the Tom Fazio-designed third fairway. Saving the best for us, we kept what we considered to be by far the ultimate location for our new enclave and first golf in/ golf out homes. Located on an elevated south-facing site and backing up to Forest Service property, the land has genuinely sweeping views and shares vistas of Game Creek Bowl on Vail Mountain, Birds of Prey in Beaver Creek, and all of Arrowhead Mountain. We named the enclave Sanctuary partly because it captures dramatic views of a dark-timbered mountainside in Lake Creek, known as an elk sanctuary to some of the largest herds in the Vail Valley. And partly because we wanted these new homes to evoke the peace, safety, and protection a sanctuary should provide. With the fourteen Sanctuary homes, we offered two different floorplans: The Avalanche was about 4000 sqft, and The Gold Dust was about 5200 sqft, each with the ability to expand and customize. Known for their excellent floorplans, main-level living in The Gold Dust, expansive stone patios, and awesome views, the one feature that truly set these homes apart from our other developments was an expanded garage with golf cart storage—a bonus feature, offered only in our Sanctuary homes. And when considering where to build our family home over the years, I chose The Sanctuary in CVC for many reasons. The proximity to Vail and skiing, the sweeping views, the gated security, and access to the golf course with our cart proved an excellent choice for us, as we are still here 20 years later!
