The origins of Arrowhead at Vail and The Country Club of the Rockies trace back to 1980, envisioned by local developer Jen Wright. The site was strategically chosen for its relatively flat terrain, ideal for a golf course, along with the natural beauty of the Eagle River and McCoy Creek, potential for ski terrain, and close proximity to Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts. The initial vision was a private residential community anchored by a top-tier golf course, attracting individuals who came to Vail Valley primarily for skiing but were captivated by the area’s stunning summer climate. The plan also included a private ski mountain exclusively for Arrowhead homeowners. Wright partnered with the Wedge Group from Houston for financing, enlisted Jack Nicklaus for the golf course design, and commissioned Wadsworth Construction Company to build the golf course. The Arrowhead property was acquired in 1981, and construction began the following year.
