Vail Resorts purchased Lake Tahoe’s Kirkwood Mountain Resort as well as undeveloped land zoned for residential and commercial use for $18 million today. The purchase completes Vail’s ownership of three mountain ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe region which include Heavenly Mountain and Northstar California. The deal is scheduled for completion next month and will be Vail Resorts’ seventh resort.
Heavenly and Northstar pass holders now have access to Kirkwood and vice versa, expanding the value of the pass tremendously. Chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts Rob Katz said, “When combined with Heavenly and Northstar, we will be able to offer our guests and pass holders unparalleled value with the very best that Lake Tahoe has to offer.” This comes as great news for Epic Pass and Epic Local Pass holders as well because as of today, these pass holders have unrestricted use of Kirkwood Mountain.
